Yesterday, tour promoters Frontier Touring took to social media to share information about Taylor Swift’s upcoming Australian Eras tour, which begins in just eight days.

Gates for all shows at the MCG and Accor Stadium open at 4:30 pm, with the show beginning at 6:20 pm. Don’t forget, Sabrina Carpenter is the special guest on all Australian shows.

Frontier Touring remind Swifties that seats are all reserved and allocated to ticketholders, so there’s no need to camp or line up from the early hours of the morning. You’ll need your tickets on the Ticketek app for entry.

From there, the remaining advice is pretty common-sense stuff that concertgoers expect at all shows: bags for arena/stadium shows need to be A4 size or smaller (excluding merchandise bought at the shows that’s bigger), smartphone photos/videos are allowed, but professional equipment is not, same with iPads, GoPros, selfie sticks or similar equipment. Drone use will also be strictly prohibited.

While the “Do Not Bring” section is also pretty typical – no large signs that can obstruct people’s views, large electronic devices (iPads, laptops, readers, etc.), umbrellas, flashlights, prams and strollers, airhorns and food and beverages from outside the venue – there was one item that caused concern amongst fans, battery packs.

Fans immediately raised their worries in the comment section, writing, “Bestie if you think i ain't bringing my portable charger you're laughing”, “Like bro it’s a safety problem??? How are people meant to get home safe, find directions, contact friends, order ubers, figure out trains home or call for emergency services???” and “Can you please clarify whether or not portable chargers are allowed to be brought in?” just some of the confused comments.

In a statement to Pedestrian TV, Frontier Touring clarified the confusion around power banks – you can take your portable phone charger, as long as it’s not a massive, industrial power bank.

A spokesperson for the touring company said, “The battery pack refers to commercial-sized battery chargers. Personal phone chargers smaller than the size of a phone will be permitted. We’re updating the FAQs to clarify for fans at the moment.”

The statement aligns with the MCG and Accor Stadium websites’ FAQ, which state: “Please note, personal phone chargers smaller than the size of your phone will be permitted.”
