Brisbane venue The Flying Cock is set to close its doors this December.

Venue co-owner David Flynn has shared the news via the business' website, saying that they "feel the timing is right for a change".

“We’ve had a great run at The Flying Cock. Our lease was up, and we decided not to renew. We feel the timing is right for a change, and we want to send the venue out with a bang," said the statement.

"Considering our original plan was to open and close the venue within a couple of years, it’s been a privilege to be part of a special moment in Fortitude Valley history for the five plus years we have.

"We hope to see a lot of old faces rolling through for a few last hurrah’s over the next 10 weeks. We know of at least a few punters who have married partners they met at The Cock, so whether you’re single, attached, or even uncertain, we encourage you to roll through for a few.

"We love The Valley, and we’ll be back."

The venue, and its downstairs bar The TBC Club, will remain open until 28 December with events scheduled throughout.

Launched in 2014, The Flying Cock has hosted events like Brisbane's Big Kick On! as well as being a regular BIGSOUND venue. It's also seen the likes of Diplo, Anderson Paak, RUFUS DU SOL, Rae Sremmurd, Tkay Maidza and more perform on its stages
