'Petrified' comes ahead of album launch and tour

More Straight Arrows More Straight Arrows

Sydney-based garage-dwelling purveyors of crunch Straight Arrows recently announced their impending return to the album-tour stage of the recording cycle with the release of their single Petrified, a reverb-soaked, sunglasses-wearing strut through retro timbres and cadences that does a lot (musically) with relatively little (instrumentally). It's the sort of jam you'd expect Mr Blonde from Reservoir Dogs could dance along to coolly while he douses someone in gasoline. That is absolutely a compliment.

Check out the video for Petrified below:

The single, of course, precedes the release of the band's sophomore LP, Rising. Coming four years after their well-received debut It's Happening, the album is set to drop on Friday, June 13, locally via Rice Is Nice, and, perhaps more excitingly for Straight Arrows, in the UK via Agitated and the US through Hozac.

The band - who have spent a lot of time since their debut's release building a solid reputation through international tours and releases, appearances at high-profile events such as the Sydney and Vivid festivals, and even dropping a single in Italy - will hit the road for a five-date tour in support of the album throughout June and July, kicking off the day the album drops at Wombarra Bowling Club, Wollongong, before heading to the brand spankin' new Newtown Social Club in Sydney on June 14, the similarly freshly minted Brightside, in Brisbane, on June 20, Newcastle's Fishbowl on June 28, and crossing the finish line at Melbourne's Northcote Social Club on July 12.

Keep an eye on the Rice Is Nice website for more information as it is released.
