Venture into the Californian desert and back in time to last year with a live cut of Tame Impala performing 'Patience' while headlining Coachella.

Earlier this month, Coachella shared a remarkable documentary of their 20 year history as a festival. It hit different watching it, given this year for the first time ever the festival was cancelled due to the ongoing global pandemic, but it was nevertheless an incredible insight into one of the world's biggest music events. Now, we're being treated even more with the release of the live recording of Tame Impala performing 'Patience' during their 2019 headline set.

Taken from Tame Impala's 2020 album, The Slow Rush, 'Patience' was the first of the singles Kevin Parker released (read our extensive review here). Long before we knew The Slow Rush even existed, it came as a surprise to many fans and kicked off a drawn-out but ultimately worth it release cycle, and resulted in arguably one of Parker's best albums yet.

The video is a bittersweet watch as we remain in uncertain times when it comes to the question of when we'll see live music again. This month, Tame Impala were meant to be returning to Australia for a triumphant homecoming tour and playing their biggest shows yet, so while we don't have that tour, we do have this. It also gives a sneak peek into what we might be able to expect in terms of show production (including the now famous Tame Impala laser display) when the band tour later this year in December.

The song itself also comes with it's own new perspective given the world we're now in. 'Patience' is kind of all we have right now as we wait for our lives to be taken off hold and for our new ones to begin. Dive into Tame Impala's 'Patience' live from Coachella 2019 below:
