More Snoop Dogg More Snoop Dogg

It turns out that Snoop Dogg has a natural knack for kicking goals, trying AFL for the first time on Tuesday (23 September).

In a video posted to social media yesterday, the American rapper received goal-kicking lessons from Collingwood stars Nick and Josh Daicos. He kicked a goal from the forward 50 before lining up from the pocket, showing an impressive snap from the boundary and, of course, celebrating the achievement.

“If you kick this, you’re gonna play for us,” Josh Daicos quipped. After kicking the goals, Snoop Dogg acknowledged the brothers’ abilities as teachers, with the call of “we’re signing you” behind him.

Snoop Dogg landed in Melbourne on Monday and headed to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Tuesday, where he found the Daicos brothers reportedly on the ground for a photo shoot, footy in hand (per the Herald Sun).

It was also reported that the rapper wanted to check out the MCG and the stage being built for his “multimillion-dollar” Grand Final pre-game entertainment show on Saturday (27 September).

Should Snoop Dogg start his pre-game entertainment performance with a goal from the boundary? We think so. Check out the video below.

Upon the AFL confirming his performance at this year’s Grand Final, Snoop Dogg said, “It’s an absolute honour to be hitting the stage at the AFL Grand Final — it’s one of the biggest events on the Aussie calendar. Can’t wait to bring the energy and celebrate with the fans. Let’s make it unforgettable.”

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon added, “Snoop Dogg is a pioneer, a performer, and a true entertainer. He’s played to packed stadiums around the world — but we think 100,000 fans at the MCG might just be his most iconic crowd yet.”

One of Australia’s most talented musicians, Tash Sultana, will perform in Snoop Dogg’s band this weekend and is expected to showcase a “show-stopping guitar performance.”

They said of the epic gig, “It’s not every day you get chosen to join Snoop’s band and perform at the AFL Grand Final in front of 100,000 people, with millions more tuning in around the world.”

In addition to his headlining performance at the AFL Grand Final, Snoop Dogg will perform at The Espy tomorrow night (25 September), Melbourne club Ms Collins on Friday, and a “secret gig” post-Grand Final on Saturday.
