King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard just performed for three nights at Lukiškių kalėjimas 2.0, a former prison and music venue in Vilnius, Lithuania.
In impressive footage captured by Bootleg Gila on YouTube (plus fan-filmed videos), the band’s three-night residency (29-31 May) culminated in a fan named Ignas, who held up a sign that read, ‘Can I play Dragon on Stu’s guitar please’, joining the band on stage.
Vocalist and guitarist Stu Mackenzie then stage dove as Ignas took over guitar-playing duties, before returning to the stage and singing the progressive metal tune. The entire vibe from the shows seemed phenomenal. As a fan on Instagram noted, “The building looks like a Mortal Kombat background, cool as fuck.”
Of course, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard drew an ecstatic, raucous crowd that jumped up and down for every riff and kept the mosh pit alive. You can watch footage from the shows below.
It won’t be long until the Australian psychedelic rockers return home. This December, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are coming home for a string of East Coast shows, performing with local orchestras and playing straight-up rock shows.
The band will perform at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Princess Theatre with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl with Orchestra Victoria. They’ll also play a rock show at the Bowl, plus Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall.
