Today in "because the internet..."
Kanye West is at the centre of yet another internet movement that would probably enrage and/or confuse him now that footage of the Black Skinhead rhyme-smith performing an objectively bizarre take on the 'Robot' at Paris Fashion Week has been used to create a whole series of utterly wonderful synchronisation and choreography.
Popularised by fledgling parody Instagram account Dancing Kanye (but prevalent across Twitter, Vine, Tumblr and the like, as well as other Instagram accounts such as Kanye Doing Things), the footage — which, it must be said, seems to have remarkable versatility — has been set to a broad range of classic '90s jams, making his jagged movements even more amazing than they already were.
Among a sea of easy R&B/hip hop syncs (Diddy, Drake, T-Pain etc), though, there are some genuinely inspired creations, including West dancing to the Seinfeld theme, *NSYNC's It's Gonna Be Me, The Jackson 5's Dancing Machine, Ariana Grande's Love Me Harder, Let It Go, from Disney's Frozen, Beyonce's Drunk In Love and, day-winningly, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air theme song.
Bonus entry: this clip that syncs the dance to the Rugrats theme song, which only nets an honorable mention because it's not quite as seamless as the others, and probably goes on a shade longer than it needs to, but still - bravo to everyone who took up this important fight. We've needed this ever since the Take On Me incident.
