Screw you, eggs!

More Ezra Furman More Ezra Furman

Eclectic US-bred indie/psych wunderkind Ezra Furman probably isn't going to make too many friends in the vegan community with his new clip, the colourful, slow-mo mayhem of upbeat brass-pop ditty Lousy Connection, taken from his recent third solo full-length album Perpetual Motion People — so, if you're one of those big-hearted folks that's keenly attuned to and thus sensitive about the plight of eggs, turn away now.

Everyone else, come a little closer, 'coz it's about to get suuuuper-fun in here.

The track itself is an aesthetically ebullient, march-beat-dappled piece, driven and buoyant and easy to listen to, working in synchronicity with the eccentricities of the visuals to deliver a wholly entertaining four minutes. Furman and his bandmates — in his backing/touring band, The Boy-Friends — spend the video destroying and getting destroyed by all manner of eggs — raw eggs, hard-boiled eggs, eggs on gnomes and porcelain cats, eggs that seem to be filled with upsettingly non-yolkish things like paint and ball bearings (or maybe those metal edible balls people used to put on cakes to make them look fancy), post-eggs (the chicken drumsticks, eh?)… seriously, name an egg, and it gets its shit ruined in this clip. Well, not ostrich eggs. Just regular eggs. Don't be ridiculous.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about it all though? He never. smudges. his lipstick. Now that, friends, is talent.
