WAM To Highlight Local Talent Via New Podcast ‘Wide Open Road’

"Another avenue for audiences to engage with the music industry."

Perth singer-songwriter Em Burrows has teamed up with WAM and SAE to launch a new podcast that will ‘uncover the secrets’ of the state’s music scene.

As its description reads, with Wide Open Road: The West Australian Music Podcast, “Burrows has used the challenges of 2020 to create an entertaining experience for music lovers - giving them a glimpse to WAs musical underbelly - even better, seeing the next generation of female musicians leading the way.”

Each episode will feature a long-form interview with a different WA artist, with producer Kučka (Laura Jane Lowther) kicking things off this week.

“WAM had the idea to develop a podcast for the last few years, but we just didn’t have the capacity to deliver it. I’m so excited to finally make it a reality,” Burrows said.

“This podcast will create another avenue for audiences to engage with the music industry, connect with WAM, and amplify community-building opportunities into the future.

“As a musician, it’s always fascinating to talk in-depth to people about their creative process. We have been conscious to feature a range of voices - including gender, cultural and generational diversity - as well as featuring guests with varying roles and careers in the industry.”
