Have your say in this year's categories for Most Popular Female, Most Popular Male and Most Popular Group

Voting is now open for this year's Bank Of Queensland People's Choice categories in the 2017 Qld Music Awards, with the public now able to have their say on who takes out the respective title of Most Popular Female, Most Popular Male and Most Popular Group.

Hosted right here on theMusic.com.au, the People's Choice categories come in the wake of the broader finalists' announcement ahead of next month's annual prizegiving, and are designed to celebrate the achievements of local artists who got their start in Queensland and now command dedicated followings across the state, country and even the world.

This year's batch of People's Choice finalists, as with the wider group of artists up for awards, include an eclectic and acclaimed group of musicians spanning generations and all manner of scenes, with veteran and emerging talent alike given room to shine.

There's plenty of reason to put your vote in beyond mere bragging rights should your favourite take out their category too, with each voter going into the draw to win a double pass to the Qld Music Awards ceremony itself, including overnight accommodation at TRYP hotel in Fortitude Valley.

Also revealed today is this year's host — comedian and radio personality Ruth Gardner — and performance line-up, which this year includes entertainment from beloved locals Kingfisha as well as fellow nominees Cub Sport, Good Boy, ROMY and Tia Gostelow.

Last, but by no means least, capping off a massive year for Queensland music, state industry body and awards organiser QMusic has today announced the five full-lengths in contention for the coveted QMA Album Of The Year prize, including two entries from artists up for People's Choice awards — Cub Sport's This Is Our Vice and Violent Soho's WACO — along with Halfway (The Golden Halfway Record), Sahara Beck (Panacea) and The Goon Sax (Up To Anything).

The 2017 Queensland Music Awards will be held at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Monday 27 March. Limited public tickets are available. See the event's website for more information.
