Big Pineapple Festival shakes up line-up

Brisbane grunge band Violent Soho and Sydney hip hop group Thundamentals have pulled out of this year's Big Pineapple Music Festival, with both bands taking responsibilities for the cancellations.

Held on the Sunshine Coast in May, Violent Soho blamed “a clash of dates with another event has forced us to withdraw from the show… The festival have been great and the cancellation from the show is through no fault of the promoters or event.”

Thundamentals said it was “previous touring commitments” that will keep them from the event, also resolving the festival's promoters in a statement.

In conjunction with the announcement, prog rock outfit Dead Letter Circus as well as MC Tuka and hip hop band Diafrix have been added to the bill.

They join the previously announced headliners of Bliss N Eso, The Living End, Art Vs Science and Spiderbait.

Festival co-Director Mar Pico said, “On behalf of the festival and our team we would like to extend our deepest apologies to our punters and we thank you for your understanding, we ourselves are big fans of both acts and it is a pity to see them go although we do wish them all the best.”

Melbourne's Lurch & Chief and Brisbane locals The Hi-Boys and Hope Springs have been added to the event.

Taking place at the Big Pineapple Complex on Nambour Connection Road, the event will take place Saturday 17 May.
