"A new page in the venue’s long history."
Only a few months after shutting its doors, beloved Victorian live music venue Karova Lounge has announced plans to reopen.
Last May, The Music reported the venue would shut in mid-October after its 15th anniversary, in part due to financial reasons.
Owners have now taken to Facebook to reveal the Ballarat space will reopen next month.
“In 2020, we turn over a new page in the venue’s long history with the revamp and rebrand to Volta Arts & Culture,” the post reads.
“Live music will still be a big part of the venue; however, we will also be open outside of shows to the general public. Focusing on a large mix of artists and we encourage local artists to get in touch with us to perform and build shows will be our goal with live music.
“We will be providing the space in out of trade times for band practice, recording sessions, podcasting and other uses that people require and just need to get in touch to organise.

Volta Arts & Culture will open in early February, with a handful of local acts already scheduled to perform at the venue, including Ali Barter, who will be the first to play at the revamped space.
