Infamous metal identity Varg Vikernes has received a six-month suspended sentence plus a $10,000 (€8,000) fine for inciting racial hatred and glorifying war crimes through a personal blog.

Killyourstereo.com reported details of the trial in June, with Vikernes escaping a potential five-year jail sentence.

The musician maintained his innocence throughout, asserting he was not the author of the material.

“Kristian Vikernes, 41, was not present in court and neither was his lawyer as the verdict was delivered. He has denied posting racist blogs and said they were written by someone else,” news publication The Local reports.
