Taylor SwiftAussie singer Vance Joy's status continues to rise in the US, with the Melbourne-born artist scoring an MTV Video Music Award nomination today.
Joy picked up a nomination in the Artist To Watch category for his 2013 mega-hit song that seems to just keep on giving, Riptide.
He joined a list of popular artists in the same category, which also included British acts James Bay and FKA Twigs.
Adelaide singer-turned international star Sia also picked up one nomination for Best Female Video for her controversial video Elastic Heart, which featured US actor Shia LaBeouf, while Chet Faker landed a nomination in the Best Choreography category for Gold.
Meanwhile, Joy is currently touring through America with pop princess Taylor Swift on her 1989 World Tour, who also took out four nominations at this year's VMA's.
Swift picked up nominations for Video Of The Year and Best Collaboration for her track Bad Blood, while she was also selected in the Best Female Video and Best Pop Video categories for Blank Space.
British singer Ed Sheeran also picked up four nominations while US artists Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar scored five noms.

This year's event which will be hosted by controversial pop star Miley Cyrus, will air on the MTV channel live from the Nokia Theatre in LA from 11am on Monday 31 August — the pre-show kicks off from 10am.
