Well, that's just showing off
World-beating troubadour Vance Joy has officially sold out every show on his current The Fire & The Flood tour, with the exhaustion of the final of his four local performances, in Brisbane, notching up a 100% success rate for the Riptide hitmaker.
Having locked away sell-out appearances in Melbourne and Sydney (dual performances, no less) a few months ago, the addition of Brisbane to the totes-gone column is a stunning cap on a remarkable run for the local musician as he stares down the barrel of completing his 59th show of the sojourn this Saturday night.
It's an achievement not lost on those of us Down Under, either, as the occasion was marked by special guest appearances from the legendary Paul Kelly and stalwart chanteuse Emma Louise for his first of two shows at the Sydney Opera House, while this weekend's performance is set to be Joy's biggest headline crowd to date — an estimated 8500 people will fill out the Riverstage to bear witness to the triumphant final performance of the intercontinental tour.
Additionally, Joy's touring clout has been reiterated by the results of a recent Pollstar ranking, which put Joy's tour at #54 of the top 100 tours of 2016, while his unkillable debut LP Dream Your Life Away continues to succeed in the chart stakes; not only is breakaway single Riptide the official record-holder for longest-standing single on the ARIA Top 100 Singles Chart, but it's now the second-longest-charting single in US history, having spent 43 weeks inside the top 100.
