Australians get to own it on Friday 3 May.

More Vampire Weekend More Vampire Weekend

While it doesn't have a title yet, we do know now that release of the third album from Vampire Weekend is not too far away, with the band today announcing that their third full length release will be out in early May.

The front page of the band's website now features two images; one saying LP3 Complete, the other stating that the record would be out on May 6/7 - the UK and US release dates respectively. Today Remote Control Records, who are the Australia distributor of the band's label XL Recordings, confirmed that the record will be released in Australia on Friday 3 May.

On Facebook the band made the announcement with very little fanfare indeed, stating no more than, "LP3 Complete. May 7th."

The only potential hint about its name that we could find was the letters MVOTC in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen and Google tells us that the only thing that really stands for is Mississinewa Valley Obedience Training Club, which would be a pretty different name to Contra, the name of their chart topping 2010 record.
