The cult-favourite funnyman will bring the laughs Down Under in April
US comedian and resident metalhead fav Brian Posehn is set to makes his initial tour of Australia happen this coming April.
Over a career spanning 20 years, the comedian/actor/writer has long shared an affinity with the metal community the world over after his 2006 first album release Live In: Nerd Rage, which included the much-loved Metal by Numbers hit. The guy has worked alongside icons of metal; Anthrax’s Joey Vera and Scott Ian the latter with whom he is currently producing a comedy metal LP, White Zombie and Cult’s drummer John Tempesta, Jonathan Donais as well as bands Anthrax, Lamb of God, The Damned, Evile and Steel Panther.
Posehn’s latest two-hour comedy special, recorded in July, backs up his one-hour special The Fartist released via Netflix in 2013. As the resident king of nerd humour, he is currently co-writing Deadpool for Marvel Comics and is followed through his hugely popular podcast, Nerd Poker, on the Earwolf network. Aside from his podcast notoriety and plenty of feature film credits, Posehn’s other guest appearances through TV’s Big Bang Theory, Guys with Kids, Anger Management and a starring role in Comedy Central’s hit show, The Sarah Silverman Program for three seasons have allowed him to reach a whole new audience.
Following a long and successful string of shows across the US, Posehn is extending his tour to Australian fans opening up at Perth’s Rosemount Hotel (12 April), then plays The Gov, Adelaide (14 April), Corner Hotel in Melbourne (15 April), and the Woolly Mammoth, Brisbane (16 April), before finishing up at Sydney’s Factory Theatre as part of Sydney Comedy Festival on Tuesday, 19 April.
