Just days after the release of their latest, self-titled album, US indie pop duo Sports have announced they will be bringing their current world tour to Australia.
This debut visit to the country will see the pair launching their three-date trek with a headline date at The Night Cat in Melbourne on Friday, July 9th, before visiting Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on July 10th, and wrapping proceedings with a trip to The Brightside in Brisbane on July 11th.
Tickets to the upcoming tour go on sale from 11am local time on Wednesday, February 25th, with a Live Nation presale running 24 hours from 10am local time on Tuesday, February 24th.
Sports – which comprises Christian Theriot and Cale Chronister – emerged from the often-overlooked Oklahoma music scene over a decade ago, with the Tulsa duo hitting it big thanks to their 2015 single You Are The Right One.
Since then, they’ve released four more albums, with their latest LP – Sports – arriving on Friday, February 20th. Speaking about the new record, Theriot explains that its given the group a chance to embrace both creative independence and maturity as they continue to grow and evolve.
“It’s given us incredible belief in ourselves,“ he explains. “It’s like the last stage of adulthood, making a record by yourself.”

However, while they’ve undoubtedly entered musical adulthood (despite the “surreal” feeling of having their tenth anniversary pass them by), the pair note that the lengthy nature of their core friendship has allowed them to hit upon the magical formula which is the key to their longevity.
“We’ve known each other since middle school,” says Chronister, “and we’re still doing it. To me, we’re just getting started.”
