UB40 Lead New Aussie Live Music Event HiFi Days

Cronulla welcomes the brand-spankin' festival this November

Australian Music Week is bringing the burgeoning boutique festival scene to Cronulla this November, with the news that the city will welcome new live-music event HiFi Days to the picturesque surrounds of Port Hacking River this November, led by none other than legendary UK outfit UB40.

It bears mentioning, of course, that this particular UB40 line-up consists of Robin and Duncan Campbell, Earl Falconer, Brian Travers and Norman Hassan. We recognise that that's 80% of the original line-up (Duncan Campbell replaced original vocalist Ali Campbell back in 2008), but you wouldn't believe how touchy people can be about this sort of thing.

Also aboard at this early stage is an absolute smorgasbord of quality Aussie talent, including recent Tim Rogers collaborators The Bamboos, Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson, hard-working mainstays The Snowdroppers, the eclectic ebullience of Caravana Sun and locally bred crew Fripps & Fripps.

The inaugural HiFi Days event is an all-ages, fully licensed shindig, meaning you can bring the whole family and drink responsibly to your heart's content. There won't be any BYO options, so don't try it.

It all goes down on Sunday, 22 November; tickets will go on sale from 10am this coming Wendesday, 29 July, via Oztix. Adult passes and tickets for kids aged 14-17 will set you back a meagre $89 (plus fees), 3-13-year-olds $45, and the real littl'uns — those aged two and under — are totally free, since they don't take up space and are good for hiding money in.

See the event's website for more information.
