Twelve Foot Ninja Smash Crowdfunding Records

The lads of Twelve Foot Ninja launched an enormous crowdfunding campaign a few weeks ago. Everyone is crowdfunding these days, but this one was seriously huge.

We covered it in depth over here a couple of weeks ago.

Basically, the band wanted to raise a whopping $45,000 to make their new film clip. They have a bit of a knack for coming up with some pretty gnarly film clip ideas and it seems as if the concept they had cooked up for their latest video has really connected with their fans and the people of the internet in general.

The band's clip will be a revenge tale, as justice is sought against an internet troll. A few special guests feature in the video, including American metal band Periphery and Penthouse Pet Madison Rhys, and the tone will once again show off that classic tongue in cheek style that the band do so well.

The campaign is now over, with the band smashing Eskimo Joe's record of $40,000 which, up until now, was the most money any Australian band had raised through crowdfunding. They also set the world record for the most amount of money ever raised by a band for a music video since the advent of crowdfunding.

There were some pretty massive bidders involved in getting them to their eventual final amount of $52,600. One unnamed overseas fan bought a private performance and BBQ for $7,000 as well as a signed guitar for $2,800. Another bunch of fans from Perth banded together to raise the necessary $5,000 to get the band over to the West to perform a special show for them.
