Iconic rapper Tupac has been officially confirmed to appear in the upcoming NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton

The late hip-hop artist's inclusion was revealed by the film's co-producer and NWA member Ice Cube who let the cat out of the bag in an Instagram post on what would have been Tupac's 44th birthday. 

"Shooting the Tupac scene for Straight Outta Compton today, the stars are aligned..." he wrote.

According to Entertainment Weekly a Universal spokesperson confirmed that US actor Marcc Rose will portray Tupac in the film, who also bares an incredibly similar appearance to the New York born star. 

At this stage it is unknown as to what the rapper's involvement in the film will be, but fans won't have to wait long with the Aus cinema release date set for August 27. 

Meanwhile, Ice Cube has recently confirmed that the original surviving members of NWA will reunite to perform on stage together for the first time in years at the BET Experience Event in LA on June 27.
