Pop icon Troye Sivan is the latest celebrity to be the subject of the ongoing public lookalike competition trend making waves around the world.
In recent weeks, we have seen callouts for celebrity lookalikes to peer out of the shadows of major cities to participate in an ultimate lookalike competition. Last month, the Timothée Chalamet Lookalike Contest caused a stir in New York City, with thousands of people flocking to the competition site for a chance to see the contenders. The ruckus resulted in four arrests by New York City police, one of which was a competing Timothée lookalike. The cash prize for the winning lookalike was valued at $50.
The real Timothée Chalamet evidently showed up to the competition, taking pictures with fans. The stunt was organised by popular YouTuber Anthony Po who went viral earlier this year for hosting an event that invited the public to watch him eat a tub of cheeseballs in a public park.
@abcnews Actor Timothée Chalamet made a surprise appearance at his own look-alike contest in Lower Manhattan on Sunday, a well-attended event that drew an order to disperse from police and at least one arrest.

Since then, there have been numerous lookalike contests held across the world calling for members of society who look like Zayn Malik, Dev Patel, Jeremy Allen White, Harry Styles and Paul Mescal to step up to the challenge. Most recently, lookalikes of Australia’s own Troye Sivan are being summoned to compete in a lookalike competition held in Sydney.
Advertised via an Instagram post, the Troye Sivan Lookalike Competition will be held on Thursday, November 28th 2024 at 8PM at the Sydney Opera House steps. The winner will of course receive the traditional cash prize of $50, as well as a bottle of Smirnoff and a bottle of Rush – the amyl nitrite depressant that inspired the singer’s hit single of the same name.
While the legitimacy of the competition is still to be questioned, we hope the contest is safe for all, and a spark of fun and lightheartedness for those eager to set out to the Sydney Opera House and take a peek at who will be crowned the ultimate Troye Sivan lookalike.
