The topic of this year's festival is "change".

It's that time of year again! Australia's most influential and recognised film festival, Tropfest are inviting budding and experienced filmmakers to showcase their work to thousands of viewers on the world's largest platform, with the festival officially taking applications from Thursday 15 August until Thursday 10 October.

Films should not be longer than seven minutes and must include this year's Tropfest Signature Item (TSI): Change. It is up to the entrants to interpret how to include the TSI into their film. Complete entry guidelines are available on the Tropfest Australia Website.

The coverage of the festival will be greater than ever this year, with viewers tuning into SBS 2 to watch the event on December 8.

This year the festival has moved dates and venues - from The Domain to Centennial Park - which is a reflection of the increase of interest and live audiences that are being attracted to the event.

Entrants will have their work judged by elite figures in the industry, with past judges including Cate Blancett, Nicole Kidman, Toni Collette and Geoffrey Rush.

As always, the competition is open to all members of the public, and this year the winner will take home a brand new car, a super fancy camera, $10,000 cash and a film immersion trip to Los Angeles, where the winner will meet with industry executives, courtesy of Motion Picture Association and Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft.

You'd better get shooting quickly!
