Triple M listeners have voted for their Top 100 Greatest Australian Artists Of All Time, crowning Cold Chisel as the #1. The vote arrives at the end of Oztober, Triple M’s annual, month-long celebration of Australian music.

With their win, Cold Chisel have been named the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time), and Triple M has increased the celebrations of the iconic rockers’ 50th anniversary.

Displaying his trademark dry, witty sense of humour, Jimmy Barnes said of the win: “Mate, that’s incredible. I can’t wait to tell the boys. We’re GOATs! That means we can rent the band out to sort of clear paddocks and things. We’re thrilled.”

In the top ten, Cold Chisel are in good company, with fellow legends AC/DC, INXS, Powderfinger, Icehouse (formerly known as Flowers), Midnight Oil, Men At Work, Divinyls, Paul Kelly, and the Working Class Man himself, Jimmy Barnes.

Earlier this year, Triple M shared its Top 10 Greatest Songs Of All Time after concluding its GOAT 600 Countdown. According to Triple M listeners, the greatest song of all time is Down Under by Men At Work.
