The 2016 Splendour In The Grass festival just got bigger following today's triple j Unearthed competition announcement, with the winners confirmed as Melbourne-based artist Alex Lahey and Byron Bay's own PLTS.

The two acts will open at the hugely-anticipated festival next month and follow in the footsteps of past winners including Art Vs Science, Tired Lion, Kingswood and many more.

The news comes just weeks after Lahey was awarded the coveted Josh Pyke Partnership Grant for 2016 and she'll be warming up for Splendour with some shows in Melbourne and Brisbane next month.

Meanwhile, having just played in Sydney this past weekend, PLTS will head back home to play a hometown gig on 1 July before moving on to the big dance.
