Rally the village
Triple j's annual One Night Stand regional festival will return in 2016, and the national youth broadcaster is on the hunt for the next town to host the yearly shindig, which has previously attracted the likes of Hilltop Hoods, The Jezabels, Violent Soho and more to some of the country's more far-flung locales.
For more than a decade now, One Night Stand has been bringing the music festival experience to areas that wouldn't ordinarily see such a spectacle, with recent iterations including Mildura (Vic), Dubbo (NSW) and Dalby (Qld). The station is now looking for the next lucky town to hold the event, and has opened applications at its website.
Applying is simple enough, with triple j putting particular focus on applicants' ability to explain how hosting the festival will make a difference to their town, whether the town has an event-appropriate site (for 5000-10,000 punters or so), and whether the local council is on-board with it.
Additionally, it's worth remembering that the j's don't tend to revisit areas that they've been to in recent years, to ensure that as wide a scope of townships get a look-in as possible — but those of you in or near towns that have recently held a One Night Stand, you can still register interest for future years when they're happy to come back through.
