Like A Version beats James Blunt to #1
A number one album has capped a big week for public youth broadcaster triple j with the ninth Like A Version compilation topping the ARIA Album Chart.
Just days after triple j announced they would be launching a new station, their third, for an older listenership the album made good on midweek predictions and has debuted at the #1 spot. A compilation of covers recorded on the station's breakfast program, it includes performances by Vance Joy, Tame Impala, Haim, Hermitude, Emma Louise, Chance Waters and The Trouble With Templeton, amongst others.
The 29th number one record of the year, it is the first time the Like A Version series has ht number one, despite a number of top ten entries in recent year.
James Blunt's Moon Landing followed it home at two as the middle of the road UK singer-songwriter rebuilds the commercial pull he once had. Lorde's Pure Heroine is third, with Tina Arena's new record Reset debuting at four. AFI's Burials debuted at 10.

Returning punk band Bodyjar debuted at 30 with Role Model.
With the X-Factor performance of Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Taylor Henderson selling very well it looked like the week that Katy Perry's Roar would lose top spot. But strong promotion for her new album and promotional appearances (including X-Factor) gave the track a 14 percent sales increase and kept it in the top spot for the ninth week running.
Roar is now tied second for the longest running number one single this decade with LMFAO's Sexy And I Know It. The only track that's spent longer at #1 this decade is LMFAO's other smash hit, Party Rock Anthem.
Much further down the charts Little Mix's Move debuted at 33, The Jezabels' The End made its first appearance at 81 and Brisbane post hardcore band The Amity Affliction's Lana Del Rey cover Born To Die is in at 84.
UPDATE: Triple j's General Manager Chris Scaddan has issued the following quote to theMusic.com.au regarding the station's first #1.
“We're really pleased that so many people love Like A Version as much as we do," he said. "This number one is a testament to the artists involved and the incredible covers they put together every single Friday morning. We're consistently surprised and inspired by what they do.”
