It's being reported that triple j's drivetime co-presenter Michael Hing is set to be the new host for a reboot of the much loved SBS maths and spelling quiz Letters & Numbers.
The radio broadcaster and standup comedian's new role was reported by TV Tonight yesterday, with Hing said to be taking over from the show's original host Richard Morecroft, who chaired the program during its 2010-2012 run.
Hing came to the drivetime triple j slot last year, replacing actor and comedian Veronica Milsom. He's also been all over the telly of late, with starring roles on programs such as The Other Guy and Where Are You Really From? as well as being a popular podcaster with Dragon Friends and Free To A Good Home.
Letters & Numbers has enjoyed steady success on SBS with repeats of the original show running since the program ceased production. Based on UK format Countdown, the series also enjoyed renewed success thanks to its comedic iteration 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown - which has featured Aussie faces such as Sam Simmons and Bec Hill and Spicks & Specks host Adam Hills.
No word of who will join Hing on the program as co-presenters have not been announced as of yet (mathematician Lily Serna and ABC Radio host David Astle accompanied Morecroft in the original), and premiere date for the new series is also to be confirmed.
