It could be worse?

It was highly unexpected but SmoothFM has become the city's #1 FM station with a weekday share of 8.8 — an impressive jump of 1.5 from the last survey and 0.4 points ahead of previous top ranking stations, KIIS FM which remained unmoved at 8.4. It won't hurt the station too much however, as breakfast heavyweights Kyle & Jackie O remain the #1 show for the slot with a huge share of 10.4.

Triple J did not have a good run in Sydney, experiencing drops in all markets, most notably breakfast, which fell 0.9 points to take out a share of 5.5. The youth station pulled in a weekday share of 6.1, down 0.9 from the last outing.

He's been the centre of controversy for some weeks but Eddie McGuire's Hot Breakfast on Triple M didn't feel the sting, as it maintained the #1 spot on breakfast with a 9.5 share.

Hometown favourites Hamish & Andy continue to dominate Melbourne's drive slot, bridging the gap between themselves (12.8) and second place Nova 100 (8.3), as they made an impressive increase of 1.1 points.

They didn't perform well in Sydney, but triple j's Melbourne market had some significant increases, particularly in the morning (up 1.7 points) and afternoon (up 1.1 points) slot. It pulled in a weekday share of 6.6, up 1.1 from the last survey.

The latest survey has been hugely disappointing for 97.3FM which suffered huge blow in all markets and has been dragged down from #1. The station took a devastating drop of 2.9 points to hold a weekday share of 11.6 (though it remains at #2), while breakfast dropped 2.6 points, morning fell by 3.9 points, afternoon by 2.7 and drive by 2.3.

Similarly to Melbourne, triple's j Brisbane market performed nicely with some healthy increases across the board. The breakfast and drive slots came through best, with solid increases of 1.7 points and 1.5 points, respectively.

adelaide

The good news stops there as far as triple j is concerned. Its Adelaide market suffered some unfortunate drops and fell 1.2 points from the last survey to hold a weekday share of 5.6.

The breakfast slot dropped by 0.8 points, while it gets progressively worse with the morning slot (down by 1.7) and afternoon slot (down by 1.8).

The back and forth breakfast battle between Mix 102.3 and Nova 91.9 has also continued, with Nova this time pushing past Mix to claim #1 with a share of 11.7, just ahead of Mix's 11.4.

perth

Despite its consistently healthy market, it wasn't a survey to remember for triple in Perth. The station experienced drops across the board, most notably the drive slot (down by 1.3 points) and evening slot (down by 1.3) to claim a weekday share of 10.8.

Mix 94.5 increased their lead as Perth's #1 FM station as well, with an increase of 0.9 points to clinch a weekday share of 15.8, well ahead of Nova 93.7's share of 13.4.

Nova did however claim #1 on breakfast yet again with a share of 14.4, still ahead of Mix who climbed 0.5 points for a share of 13.6.
