The latest volume of triple j's Like A Version compilation series looks set to make a big splash into the ARIA Albums Chart on the weekend.
According the mid-week sales figures, Like A Version Volume 11 — which features covers recorded by The Wombats, Jarryd James, Mark Ronson, Vance Joy and a lot of other artists — looks like a strong contender for debuting in the top spot, replacing Parkway Drive's Ire.
If it does take out the number one position it will spoil Cold Chisel's chances of getting back to number one with their new set The Perfect Crime. The Oz rockers haven't had a number one album in Australia since The Last Wave Of Summer took out peak position back in 1998, their No Plans album peaking at number two in 2012. Chisel have scored four number one albums throughout their career: Swingshift (1981); Circus Animals (1982); Twentieth Century (1984) and the aforementioned The Last Wave Of Summer.
But there are a few other contenders for placing high new entries in the chart this week, including Trivium's Silence In The Snow, Rudimental's We The Generation and, buoyed by an appearance at the weekend's AFL Grand Final, Bryan Adam's Get Up.
Other new releases looking to make their way into the Australian chart this week include: Unbreakable — Janet Jackson; Stories — Avicii; Psychic Warfare — Clutch; Authentic Lemonade — Dylan Joel; Zipper Down — Eagles Of Death Metal and Kill The Flaw — Sevendust.
