Travis Scott finally dropped his fourth studio album Utopia on Friday, July 28 via Cactus Jack and Epic Records.

It comes five years following his highly-acclaimed album ASTROWORLD, which was nominated for best rap album at the 2019 Grammy Awards and featured Scott’s first No. 1 hit and RIAA diamond-certified single SICKO MODE.

The rapper sent fans into fans into a tizzy earlier this week with the news that the highly anticipated new album would be dropping today, along with an accompanying film, titled Circus Maximus (it’s yet to be confirmed how we can watch the flick Down Under).

Scott revealed news of the impending drop during his set at Rolling Loud Miami festival on July 22, where he played a trailer for the album and film on the big screen during his performance.

The SICKO MODE hitmaker was planning to debut the new album and the film with a listening party and live stream from the ancient monuments on July 28 - until it was reported that The Egyptian Musicians Syndicate then said (via Egypt Today) that it would no longer go ahead due to safety concerns and “peculiar rituals performed by the star during his performance, contradicting our authentic societal values and traditions.”

While Live Nation initially released a statement that assured fans that “there have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt” and “any reports to the contrary are false”, it seems they weren’t able to get the show across the line in the end, citing “complex production issues”.

“We regret to inform you that the UTOPIA show, originally scheduled for July 28th at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt is cancelled,” Live Nation Middle East said in a statement. “Unfortunately, despite highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert.”

Scott also took to Twitter to tell fans the Pyramid shows “will happen” eventually.

“Egypt at the pyramids will happen. But due to demand and detail logistics. They just need a bit a time to set lay on lands. I will keep u posted on a date which will be soon love you alllll”.

He also teased: “But in good news I had 4 more of these type of experiences in other places. COORDINATES SOON REACH.”

Scott then confirmed the release date for his fourth full-length studio album and debuted three of its five covers on Tuesday (July 25).

“THIS IS ONE OF THE COVERS FOR MY 4TH ALBUM UTOPIA SHOT BY PIETER HUGO THE JOURNEY THRU THE ALBUM TOOK ME ALL OVER THE WORLD AND CANT WAIT TO FINALLY DROP THE ALBUM/ THE MAIN COVER WILL DROP THURS UNTIL THEN A COVER EVERYDAY LOVE U SEE U IN UTOPIA,” he captioned the post.
