Totally Unicorn Are Crowdfunding Their Wine Stash

23 June 2014 | 1:21 pm | Staff Writer

If this isn't what crowdfunding is for, we don't want to know about it

More Totally Unicorn More Totally Unicorn

The budget has made things difficult for everyone, but spare a thought for poor old Aussie rockers Totally Unicorn, who have been left so hard-hit by old mates Tony and Joe's economic whacking stick that they're begging the internet for booze money.

Yes, demonstrating that they are wholeheartedly denizens of a post-shame society, TU have created a Pozible campaign to help keep them in the red (and/or white).

"We (Totally Unicorn) would like $14 to buy ourselves a box of red wine from our local bottle shop," the band explain on the campaign page. "Thanks to Tony we can't buy as much wine as we would like. So we need your help. Chip in and help us out!"

As you can see, all they're asking for is the measly sum of $14 -- a target they've already smashed out of the park, with the effort netting the band a whopping $22 at the time of writing.

With 28 days remaining on the campaign (it closes July 21), if we really dig deep and all pitch in, we know that you could help make the desperate souls of Totally Unicorn a little happier, at least until they receive the wine and wind up sobbing themselves to sleep over emptied bottles for a month straight.

To help convey the seriousness of the wine-shortage issue, band member Drew Gardner has starred in an educational PSA that -- aside from tugging on the heartstrings and highlighting their very real plight -- was clearly made with assistance from graduates of the Tim And Eric School Of Video Editing.

That is, it is simply wonderful, in a public-access, so-shitty-it's-actually-great kind of way. Watch the vid, then have a heart, help a worthy cause, and give these amazing humans a chance to fill their booze quota.

Totally Unicorn will play Sydney's Manning Bar on Friday, July 10, with Violent Soho and The Smith St Band. Tickets are available now.
