Jenna McDougall has already had a cracking career as the vocalist for Tonight Alive - and now she has also broken out from that and announced her solo project 'Hevenshe' - and today, has released the first filmclip and single - 'No One Will Ever Love You'. It's a pop-rock track, frankly with kinda country/alt/pop vibes as well! Jenna's voice soars as usual and it's a HELL of a start to Hevenshe!
This is the very first release from McDougall's solo project Hevenshe and it's a uplifting ripper of a track. The song and clip have some real pop-country moments as well as evoking a real Debbie Harry vibe with her shag mullet haircut and glitter-adorned guitar, soft spotlights and more. It's a great introduction to the project and overall vision of what McDougall is shooting for here - and it's definitely not going to take long to catch on and hear this on radio and taking the stages across the country and world. The track already premiered on radio on BBC 1, which is incredible.
NME premiered the video this morning - and said that "‘...the bulk of Hevenshe’s music (which currently stands at around 40 songs) was created in 2020 and 2021 when McDougall was locked down in her Melbourne flat with a secondhand piano she’d got for $100." She went on to tell them “I want to be a headline act. I want to play festivals and I want to be busy, I want to be creating nonstop and right now, I want to do that as Hevenshe. Tonight Alive will have its moment again but this isn’t just a get-it-out-of-your-system-and-move-on project. This is the next evolution of me as an artist. I’m going to give this all the years that I can.”
McDougall's first show as Hevenshe is this Friday June 10 at Crowbar in Sydney. Tickets are available at OZTIX.
