Tina Fey, Amy Poehler To Replace Ricky Gervais As Golden Globes Hosts

TV personalities to front the film industry's two biggest nights

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the 2013 Golden Globes, with the sitcom stars replacing controversial TV comedian Ricky Gervais who has presented the last three years.

The comedians, who worked together on Saturday Night Live and cult film hit Baby Mama and have starred in their our shows 30 Rock (Fey) and Parks & Recreation (Poehler), will co-host the event which will take place Sunday 13 January. The Golden Globes recognise both television and film achievements and is the second highest rating award ceremony for the film industry, behind the Academy Awards.

With Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane hosting the next Academy Awards, it means that the American film industry's two biggest nights will be fronted by television personalities.

Fey and Poehler have presented together at the Emmy Awards previously, but will be shouldering a lot of expectation after Ricky Gervais' three year run of controversial jokes that gave the awards worldwide headlines.

In other American television news, hipster hit Girls will begin its second season on HBO also on Sunday 13 January.
