Timberwolf Lands US & Aussie Deals On Back Of New Single

Emergent Adelaide singer-songwriter Timberwolf is set to finish 2016 on a strong note, with the twentysomething troubadour unveiling new single Something That I Said and landing two new deals — one at home and one abroad.

Having surpassed 1 million Spotify plays for his acclaimed Flux EP, released last year — and having spent much of 2015-16 building a reputation for high-quality live performances, as demonstrated at headline shows and festivals around the country, including Groovin The Moo, WOMADelaide, Big Pineapple, Bigsound and Woodford — it shouldn't be overly surprising that Timberwolf has found himself the object of multiple companies' affections.

On the global front, US publishing house Third Side Music has picked up the rising talent, who has also recently bolstered his achievements for the year by picking up the Best Songwriter and Best Male Artist prizes at the South Australian Music Awards. His signing with Third Side seems him added to an existing roster that includes fellow Aussie Courtney Barnett as well as the likes of Flying Lotus, BADBADNOTGOOD, Kurt Vile and the revived Wolf Parade.

The international publishing deal comes in tandem with the news that Timberwolf (aka Christopher Panousakis) has been picked up by the discerning tastemakers at local bookers Select Music, bringing him under the care of the same team responsible for esteemed acts such as RUFUS, Ball Park Music and Montaigne.

"Ever since we watched Timberwolf crack through our bleary jet-lagged eyes and ears at 2015’s BIGSOUND, we knew we had to be involved in bringing Chris's amazing songs to the world," Third Side Music reps explained in a company statement. 

"Something That I Said in particular has been one we’ve been anxiously sitting on our hands waiting to be able to share in all its heartbreaking glory. Go break up with someone right now for full effect." 

The single was co-produced with Jackson Barclay (Tkay Maidza, Sarah Blasko), with Timberwolf describing it as being "the kind of song that encourages people to celebrate feeling imperfect and a little bit shit at making friends and finding lovers, because we're all really awkward and conflicted and anyone who thinks they're not is even more-so".
