Two of our country's finest come together for what will surely be a classy affair.
Following on from the success of their first musical foray together – the infectious I Got Burned from this year's Medicine Man LP – Melbourne funk and soul masters The Bamboos and Aussie rock icon Tim Rogers are getting back together to ensure their collaborative spirit continues to burn. Together they are getting on the road early next year to play shows all over the country, adding a series of theatre dates onto the already announced shows that see them playing the WOMADelaide and Perth Festivals.
While the extent of the songs they will play remains to be seen and heard, we can tell you that the onstage line up of the band will be led by Rogers on vocals, bandleader Lance Ferguson on guitar and will still feature the stunning resident Bamboos vocalists Kylie Auldist and Ella Thompson, who are such a big part of what makes this amazing live band what they are.
Both acts had plenty going on in their respective musical lives in 2012; the aforementioned record from The Bamboos' seeing them slide into more pop territory and earning plenty of recognition for it, while Rogers released his first solo record in quite some time with Rogers Sings Rogerstein. Now they're kicking off 2013 in fine style, Rogers saying in a statement today he's “pledging my pins and laying aside my B-List moves for this tour. Got A-list tastes in my tonsils.”
