The long-awaited debut studio album from eclectic Aussie talent Tim Minchin will arrive this year.

The local star has confirmed that Apart Together will drop on November 20 via BMG, as announced during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The announcement is accompanied by the album’s third single and title track, which follows on from Leaving LA and I’ll Take Lonely Tonight earlier this year, and will premiere tonight via Minchin’s YouTube channel at 8pm AEST.

Speaking with The Music back in April around the release of Leaving LA, Minchin noted: “The weirdest thing about my career is that I’ve been writing songs since I was 12 years old and I’ve never made a studio album, but I finally got around to fixing it.

“With this album, I haven’t really thought about it much at all, I’ve just gone, ‘I’m gonna write what I wanna write.’ And what comes out tends to be, probably the thing I’m best at, which is treading the line between sentimentality and satire... You need to listen to every word, you’re not meant to let it wash over you. They are storytelling songs – they all tell a story.”
