New music from Laura Marling, Mount Kimbie, Alice In Chains, Deep Purple & Dialectrix!
A quiet one this week, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few great records coming your way:
Laura Marling – Once I Was An Eagle (Virgin/Caroline)
We're streaming the latest album from this literate songstress who will be swinging by Australia for Splendour and some sideshows. Our reviewer reckons it's a solid effort, but maybe lacks the spark of earlier releases.
Mount Kimbie – Cold Spring Fault Less Youth (Warp/Inertia)
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
The UK duo trade out some of dubstep's hectic glitchy paranoia for some sexier and straighter vibes – it's a pretty successful move, all things considered.
Deep Purple – Now What?! (earMUSIC/Shock)
The veteran UK classic rockers return for album #18, with two songs dedicated to the passing of founding keyboardist Jon Lord. The band have pressed on, not just with this album (check our review) but with touring, having stopped by Australia earlier this year.
Alice In Chains – The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (Virgin/EMI)
2009's Black Gives Way To Blue put to rest any notion that Alice In Chains couldn't continue on without deceased frontman Layne Stayley and this latest record proves the old-school grungers still have plenty of gas left in the tank.
