Karnivool - Asymmetry (Cymatic/Sony)

Perth prog rockers are finally back with Asymmetry, described by songwriter, guitarist and co-producer Drew Goddard as a natural evolution of music. It's been four years since their last effort and they don't seem to have lost any of their trademark intensity but the guys do venture out into different territory with this LP.

Mayer Hawthorne - Where Does This Door Go (Caroline)

The soul continues with Mayer Hawthorne's third album. He spreads his musical wings on the new material, throwing in some '80s blue-eyed soul, reggae and one of his other loves, hip hop. Guests include Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell for what is a fine record.

David Lynch - Crazy Clown Time (Sunday Best/[PIAS] Australia)

The filmmaker releases his second solo album this week and it's a step up from his previous, 2011's Crazy Clown Time. Lynch sends out a mix of ideals, generally laced with some pleasant blues and claustrophobic production. Attentive minds will love this.
