Boy & Bear, Yellowcard, Don Walker and more
Ty Segall - Sleeper (Spunk)
The new release from the prolific singer-songwriter is a darker and slightly more restrained collection than his previous records. But Segall more than handles the shift into different territory. We're streaming this one all week on theMusic - have a listen.
Boy & Bear - Harlequin Dream (Universal)
The sophomore album from the Aussies sees the guys deliver a brand of non-pretentious sincere music, which is a mix of neo-folk sounds with emotion and sincerity. This is a very Boy & Bear record, but that doesn't mean that each song sounds the same as the previous. A great follow-up to Moonfire.
Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue Acoustic (Hopeless Records)
It was always going to be a bold move for a pop-punk outfit to go acoustic and especially since Yellowcard have reworked the album that put their name on the map. The energy from the 2003 original is still there, just toned down and while it's a risky venture, the move pulls off.
Don Walker - Hully Gully (MGM)
The Cold Chisel songwriter is back with his third official solo release, just ahead of a tour with his band The Suave Fucks. The dark, sometimes humourous record is his first since the 1996 offering Cutting Back. Listen to our exclusive stream of the LP before its release tomorrow.
