Linkin Park On 'From Zero' & Their Return To Australia: 'We're More Assured That This Is What We Want To Be Doing'

This Unknown ''90s Cover Band' Is Probably A Famous Aussie Act

That has to be the explanation here

We'll preface this by saying that there's every chance we're totally off the mark and everything is exactly as it seems here, but we're suss as hell about this "Burning Chair" band playing in Sydney next month.

Since moving into the space formerly occupied by The Vanguard, in Newtown, a few months ago, nascent live venue Leadbelly has done a solid job of eking out a role for itself in the city's live-music scene. It routinely hosts gigs on its premises, with emergent and established artists such as Cass Greaves, Apollo Hooks, Twin Fires, Youngblood and more slated to play there in coming weeks.

Now, we're journalists, not detectives, but doesn't that make it all the more improbable that Burning Chair — with their 63 Facebook followers and proclivity for blatantly screwing up the names of otherwise well-known local artists — would be, apropos nothing, named as headline performers for a show with The Persian Drugs and The Delta Riggs DJs (again, both much more widely known acts than the mysterious covers group)?

According to the band's Facebook page — which, by the way, was created yesterday — the upcoming gig at Leadbelly, on Thursday 3 November, will not only be their first-ever show but feature them "blasting out all our favourite Aussie 90s rock anthems by heroes like Eskimo Jones, Spiderbate, Something From Kate, Grimspoon and of course those deadset legends YOU AND I!"

Hmm...

If you're curious enough to take the chance, tickets for Burning Chair's debut show are available now

If it's exactly what it sounds like, we're really sorry; if it turns out we're onto something, you're very welcome.
