"A band we love and always recommend..."
Melbourne pop-punk band This Space Is Ours have returned with a phenomenal new track, Apology and with it, shared their favourite emerging Aussie hardcore acts they believe Kill Your Stereo readers need to know. Check out the lyric video below.
Apology is at once resembling the kind of emo music Paramore or Eisley made in the early 2000s, with references to the twinkly emo of the 90s, a la American Football.
The electrifying pop-punk number contains melodic singalong-worthy hooks, driving drums and face-melting solos amidst a darker lyrical undercurrent.
Apology was recorded between Pony Music, Studio Delos and United POP. This marks the second single the band have collaborated with esteemed producer Beau McKee (Earth Caller, Christopher Dicker, Between You & Me) on.
The band commented about the new single, “The lyrics of the song tackle the tough situation of falling out of love with the person you're with. When things seem to have gone stale and cold but you're not quite ready to address it, out of the fear of letting go.”
Vocalist Gemma Dunsmore added, “This is one out of five singles we recorded with Beau McKee. We had a lot of fun with him in the studio and he ensured we were all comfortable enough to play around and achieve the exact sound we were looking for.”
To celebrate the new single, we caught up with This Space Is Ours to find out about the bands they’re loving.
