Not a bad way to get people's attention.
It's been a hell of a year for Perth-born singer, Emmi.
The emerging artist has today been announced as the 2016 winner of MTV's Brand New competition after garnering near 60 thousand votes, but what many may not know about Emmi is that she not only features on the soundtrack for new Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, but she also scored a role in the film.
The London-based songwriter was chosen to perform the song, Blind Pig, written by legendary author JK Rowling and is the only artist to sing on the entire Fantastic Beasts soundtrack.
Emmi described the entire process working with director David Yates as a "hilarious mystery".

"I knew the song was called Blind Pig but I had no idea why because there’s no mention of a pig in it," she said.
"I now know it’s because that’s the name of the speakeasy but I found that fact out online like everybody else. I thought it was some codename to cover up what the song was about."
It wasn't long after showing up to the famous Abbey Road Studios to record the track that Emmi was thrust onto the film set in green lycra to have her performance motion-captured, where she would eventually feature in Fantastic Beasts as a goblin singer.
"The recording was amazing," Emmi said.
"Every moment of the film has so much knowledge and passion poured into it. I was flying for a week afterwards because that’s what I want to be part of: creating something that lifts you up in the world."
Meanwhile, following her MTV Brand New win, Emmi is donating the $10,000 donation prize to Telethon Perth, which raises money for medical research into children’s diseases and provides vital medical equipment to areas of need in Western Australia.
