'The Walking Dead' Star Pulls Out Of Supanova

The last-minute change has left the pop culture con high and dry

Bad news, non-sports fans - if you were hoping to meet and greet The Walking Dead star Laurie Holden at either the Sydney or Perth iterations of the Supanova Pop Culture Expo so you could tell her how much you genuinely despised her character Andrea, then you should know that as of this morning she will no longer be attending this year's event.

In a post on Facebook, Supanova explained that "literally only a few hours" before she was due to board a flight to make the convention, Holden had signed on for a new project that required an immediate start, and thus her cancellation, or, to use the con's words, postponement.

"In what we can only describe as 'head-to-desk' news we've just been informed Laurie Holden has had to postpone her visit to Supanova due to literally just signing on the dotted line for an immediately commencing project," the pop culture event said, conceding that they have been left with "no time" to find a suitable, or any, replacement, given Sydney's con kicks off tomorrow.

This is not the first time Holden has been forced to cancel (or postpone) her Supanova appearance, bailing on last year's April leg (Melbourne/Gold Coast) due to her landing a part in the forthcoming Farrelly Brothers sequel, Dumb And Dumber To.

Fan response to the news varied from understanding if disappointed (the majority) to outright bileous (a special few), with some even drawing comparisons between Holden and serial 'Nova canceller Morena Baccarin.

The convention itself had nothing but positive wishes for the star, saying: "Naturally we're happy for Laurie but oh-so upset for ourselves and you, our fans."

All other guests are attending as currently advertised, taking into account existing cancellations.

Supanova Sydney will be held at Sydney Showground, Olympic Park, from June 13-15, before heading to Perth's Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 20-22. Tickets are still available via Moshtix.
