This morning, The Wailers were added to this year’s Bluesfest line-up alongside Byron Bay heavyweights Parkway Drive and neo-soul pioneer Erykah Badu. And now, they’ve announced a pair of shows to accompany their festival appearances.

The Wailers’ 50 Years of Positive Vibrations tour kicks off before their performances at Bluesfest, performing at Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Wednesday, 1 April, and Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Thursday, 2 April.

Pre-sale tickets will be available on Tuesday, 20 January, at 11 am AEDT – sign up here for pre-sale access – ahead of the general sale on Thursday, 22 January, at 11 am AEDT. You can find more ticketing information on the Bluesfest Tours website.

For the Easter Weekend – from Friday, 3 April, to Sunday, 5 April – The Wailers will appear at Bluesfest, locking in a three-night residency spotlighting Bob Marley classics.

The three-night celebration will see The Wailers present sets that draw from Bob Marley’s landmark compilation album Legend, feature select songs from Natural Mystic alongside Legend hits, and a Rastaman Vibration / Positive Vibrations set, paired with Legend classics. Carrying forward the legend of reggae, The Wailers are guided by the leadership of Aston Barrett Jr., son of Bob Marley and The Wailers bassist Aston Family ManBarrett. The group pays deep respect to the past and takes the music into the future.

Accompanied by singer Mitchell Brunings, who has captivated audiences worldwide, The Wailers continue to deliver performances that embody the spirit of reggae.

Peter Noble OAM, Festival Director of Byron Bay Bluesfest and the Australian presenter for The Wailers for almost four decades, said: “This is not a cheap facsimile of Bob Marley’s music. This is genuine, heartfelt and real. It is Bob Marley’s music played properly, taught by members of The Wailers themselves and passed on to a new generation who deeply care about both the music and its message.”

“This tour carries the spirit, power and purpose of Bob Marley into the future. It honours the past while keeping the message alive - and it is absolutely not to be missed.”
