The Terrys are celebrating quite a significant milestone.

On Monday (4 May), the NSW rockers took to social media to reveal that over the weekend, they performed their first-ever show without a drink. While that may be normal for some performers, The Terrys took the opportunity to highlight the difficulties many musicians face and, importantly, used Instagram to not only showcase the glitz and glamour of touring life.

“Gday everyone! So last night’s show at Dee Why RSL, was low key an absolute banger. A super special show,” the band began. “However, it was also a milestone as a band and for some this may be a bit jarring, for some it will be completely normal.

“We played together as a band last night without a drink for the first time ever. We love what we do so much and are so thankful for the opportunity we get. To share the music, we make and play it for everyone is the most magical thing we could ever be doing.”

The Terrys continued by noting that living a life in music comes with some “rough paths, tough decisions, some losses, sacrifices and sometimes temptations,” which makes their show on Sunday night pivotal.

“This comes with some rough paths, tough decisions, some losses, sacrifices and sometimes temptations like alcohol and drugs,” they wrote. “That as normal people just living life face and don’t always get right. Last night showed us that we don’t have to drink to have a good time or play a good show. We love what we do and we love everyone who supports us.”

The band captioned the post, “Instagram should not only be about the glitz and the glam People struggle with substance abuse every day!!! & in the music not only is it accepted it’s encouraged. We will always keep it real… keep it human. we ain’t saints by any means. But one things 4 sure … TEZZAS LIVE FOR EVER.”

On Saturday (9 May), The Terrys will perform at Groovin The Moo festival in Lismore alongside the likes of Denzel Curry, Ninajirachi, Matt Corby, The Chats, Tones And I, and many others.

Last July, the band dropped their self-titled third album, following 2022’s True Colour and 2024’s Skate Pop. Known for their high-energy, feel-good brand of indie rock, the group’s infectious hooks and laidback nature have scored them fans across Australia and internationally.
