The acclaimed Canadian veterans will be heading around the country this November
It seems somewhat unbelievable that 20 years have passed since the world was first graced with The Edges Of Twilight, the breakthrough second album from venerated Canadian rockers The Tea Party — but the upside to the inexorable march of time is the onset of nostalgia, and Australians are about to benefit from that in a big way.
After all, two decades is a pretty big milestone for any album, especially one as rapturously received Down Under as The Edges Of Twilight, which became the band's first top-10 album in Australia in the wake of its release in 1995 — so The Tea Party are dusting it off and hitting the road to pay homage to its legacy with full live recreations of the entire album at five shows all around the country this November.
That's not all — following the first set of the evening, the band will return for a second showing of songs made up of highlights from first album Splendor Solis right the way through to last year's comeback effort The Ocean At The End. Essentially, you're getting most of The Tea Party's career in one night of respective revelry, with tickets opening for pre-sale from midday on Thursday, 20 August, through till 5pm on Sunday, 23 August. If you're worried at all about the wearying effects of ageing on the band's members, take a peek at this highlight reel from their comeback tour last year and be reassured.
The Tea Party will kick off their 20th-anniversary The Edges Of Twilight tour in Perth, at the Astor Theatre, on Monday, 9 November, and head on to grace stages in Adelaide (The Gov, 12 November), Melbourne (Palais Theatre, 13 November), Sydney (Enmore Theatre, 14 November) and Brisbane (The Tivoli, 16 November).

At the same time, those looking to revisit the album itself are also in luck, with Universal Music Australia announcing plans to unveil a deluxe-edition CD, digital deluxe edition, and double-LP 180-gram heavyweight vinyl edition of the album, all of which feature newly remastered audio, while the deluxe reissues also boast a bonus disc of material including alternate, live, radio and bonus audio, an exclusive back-story booklet and new interviews and previously unseen photos; it's quite the treasure trove for quite an album.
"People often ask me, 'What does The Edges Of Twilight mean to me as a musician?'" frontman Jeff Martin said in a statement. "My answer, although not so simple, is simply this: it was the crystallisation and the manifestation of an incredible musical vision between the three of us, and the fact that it was achieved in such a way was probably, and is still, one of the proudest musical achievements of my life."
General-release tickets will be made available from 9am Monday, 24 August. Both the pre-sales and public tickets will be available through a variety of outlets including Ticketek, StageTix, Oztix and Ticketmaster; see theGuide or check The Music App for more information.
