So... can we get a full time return now?

The TV ratings for the Spicks & Specks reunion last month were hugely impressive and it turns out it was one of the most-watched shows on Australian television in 2018.

As TV Tonight reports, the special's 1,113,000 viewership is ABC's highest-rating programme this year.

While events such as the AFL grand final (over 2.6 million) and NRL's State Of Origin game on (over 2.3 million) ranked towards the top of the list for most-watched shows in 2018 overall, the Spicks & Specks result will only fuel calls for the quiz show to make a permanent return.

Speaking to The Music ahead of the reunion last month, host Adam Hills said that he would "happily" bring the show back on a semi-regular basis.

"I said to [team captains] Alan and Myf, ‘Look, I would happily do this every year for Ausmusic Month,’ maybe even for the whole month. You know, come back and we’d film four episodes and we’d just do a month of Spicks & Specks," he said.

"But I mean, that was just me after the show on the high of doing it. Look, I think Alan and Myf were on a high from doing it as well, so they might have the same thinking as me."
