Celebrated Melburnian punk-rockers The Smith Street Band have announced an April release date for their eagerly awaited fourth studio full-length, More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me.

Being released through their own, freshly minted label, Pool House Records, the album is preceded by taster track Birthdays, the accompanying video for which has been unveiled by the band today.

Featuring the guest vocals of old touring mate Jess Locke and even a bit of synth for good measure, the track is a typically earnest effort from the beloved outfit, all heart-on-sleeve, warts-and-all soul-baring from frontman Wil Wagner, propelled along by big riffs and punchy choruses of the strain that The Smith Street Band are so adept at wielding these days.

The wider album was recorded at Panoramic House, in Stinson Beach, California, with production by cult-favourite muso Jeff Rosenstock and a seriously refined pedigree of other hands helping bring the record to life, including engineer Jack Shirley (Joyce Manor, Deafheaven, Hard Girls), mixer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, The Hold Steady) and master...er... Greg Calbi (Bob Dylan, Ramones, Bruce Springsteen).

The new full-length follows on from 2014's acclaimed breakthrough LP, Throw Me In The River, and is sure to reflect the many incredible experiences that the band have undergone since that album's release, including overseas tours and festival spots and an ever-improving profile.

Check out the clip for Birthdays, directed by Neal Walters (who also helmed the band's Death To The Lads video), below.

More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me will be released via Pool House Records/Remote Control on Friday 7 April.
