The Smith Street Band ProfileMelbourne rockers The Smith Street Band are set for a stupidly busy September, but there is no better way to kick it off then with a top ten debut on the Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts for their new single, I Scare Myself Sometimes.
The quartet's track was the only debut on the indie charts this week and came in at #10, just before their tour dates commence around the country, which include appearances at the Poison Weekender, Yours & Owls and the I Love Life festivals, as well as string of headline shows.
There was very little movement on the Singles Chart however, with Meg Mac clinching the #1 spot yet again with Never Be, while her other hit, Roll Up Your Sleeves, jumped up from seventh spot to claim #3.
While Hermitude's The Buzz again came in at #2, Aussie pop singer Sia impressively took out the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh spots for Elastic Heart, Chandelier, Big Girls Cry and Fire Meet Gasoline, respectively.
The Albums Chart also remained quite stagnant as veteran folk act The Waifs held the #1 spot with Beautiful You, keeping Sia's 1000's Forms Of Fear and Gurrumul's The Gospel Album anchored to second and third position.
The biggest jump came from Courtney Barnett whose debut album, Sometimes I Sit & Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit jumped up four spots from last week to claim #6.
